SPIDER Call for Proposals: ICT4Education proposals for vocational skills. Special focus on employability and/or self-sufficiency

The Swedish Program for ICT in Developing Regions (SPIDER) has announced an open call in the thematic programme of Education and Learning to receive project proposals that are ready to be implemented and can deliver concrete results from organisations using ICT within formal or non-formal education to give vocational skills to improve employability or self-sufficiency.

Cross-Cutting Themes

Across SPIDER’s thematic areas and activities, the organisation gives particular focus to a number of cross cutting themes. These are:

  • Gender
  • Rights based approach
  • Social Realities (Social differentiation based on sexuality, ethnicity, age, religious affiliations often strengthen social imbalances and skewed distribution of resources )
  • Increased access to ICT Security and integrity
  • Environment
  • Disabilities

Target Group

This call will focus on the heads of children-headed households or, heads of women-headed households, widows or youth in rural-, urban settings and refugee camps.

Funding Information

  • The project should not exceed 1 million SEK per year.
  • Spider will fund projects in education starting from mid-2017. Projects need to end by mid-2019.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Spider will accept applications from institutions of learning, vocational schools and organisations from the 23 priority countries for Swedish development cooperation including Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, Somalia and Tanzania in Eastern Africa.
  • This call will focus on the heads of children-headed households or, heads of women-headed households, widows or youth in rural-, urban settings and refugee camps.
