The USAID/Kenya and East Africa Afya Jijini program is designed to strengthen Nairobi City County’s institutional and management capacity to deliver quality healthcare services. Afya Jijini’s strategic goal is to “Improve County-level Institutional Capacity and Management of Health Service Delivery” with the purpose of improving and increasing access and utilization of quality health services through strengthened service delivery and institutional capacity of health systems.
Through the Afya Jijini Small Grants (AJSG) program, which focuses on mobilizing existing community-based networks of Non-Governmental Organizations (NGO’s), Community Based Organizations (CBO’s) and Faith Based Organizations (FBO’s) in Nairobi City County, Afya Jijini seeks interested applicants to implement the Afya Jijini Small Grants (AJSG) Program over a period of six months with a possibility of extension. Successful applicants will contribute to specifically achieving the program’s three main sub-purposes:
Sub Purpose 1: Increase access and utilization of quality HIV services.
Sub Purpose 2: Increase access and uptake of maternal, neonatal, and child health (MNCH), family planning (FP), reproductive health (RH), Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH), and nutrition services.
Sub Purpose 3: Strengthen the county and sub-county health systems.
Performance for all AJSG activities will take place within the prime contract period of three (3) years which is September 1, 2015 to August 31, 2018.
This Request for Applications (RFA) seeks applicants interested in proposing grant-funded activities to support the USAID/Kenya and East Africa, Afya Jijini Small Grants program. Specifically, the program is seeking to fund the following types of activities:

Submission of Applications
Applicants are required to submit the following information:
1. The completed application form, grant application budget form, implementation timeline, applicant self-assessment form, and required signed certifications.
2. Copy of a valid and current registration certificate.
3. Copy of the organization’s charter and by-laws.
4. Copy of the last three (3) years’ annual financial reports, including balance sheets, statements of cash flows and income & expenditure reports, all sealed and approved by a licensed audit firm, if available.
5. Other documents (if necessary) may be requested at a later date.
Applications should be submitted in hard copy to the Afya Jijini office at the address below and should reference “AJSG RFA Ref. No. 2018-xxx (indicate RFA number for the application e.g. 002 for WASH) dated January 10, 2018.”
